2016 Holiday Stocking Drive, fundraising letter:
Our Current Goal: Holiday Stockings for all the Elementary school children in the Illinois Valley. This will include children attending Evergreen Elementary, Madrone Adventist Elementary, The Dome School and The Christian Acadamy.
We want our children to smile this Holiday Season. We are working to provide every child in our public elementary along with the 3 private home school style classrooms with a Holiday stocking (to include a toothbrush and soap along with a candy treat), a toy or game, and a piece of clothing or accessory.
We are asking for your help. We are trying to provide for 400 to 600 children. This is the year we lost our biggest employer, our job security for many families. We do not want our children to remember that, I want them to remember this as the year we reminded them that we are still a strong community, that we care for one and other. We all want them to remember that not only our immediate family cares, but that our town and our country cares. We want them to reflect back when they are grown and remember that we raised them to know that America is the greatest country on earth. We want our children to teach their children to continue to stand together, to always help one and other, to support themselves and their neighbors while always remembering that the house we live in is not our home, this country is our home and everyone in it is our family. We want the children of the Illinois Valley to never feel like the forgotten ones again, to always have a reason be prideful of their community.
